Mobilegeddon- Updation by Google Algorithm

Each year, Google changes its search algorithm around 500–600 times. While most of these changes are minor, Google occasionally rolls out a “major” algorithmic update (such as Google Panda and Google Penguin) that affects search results in significant ways.

Talking about 2015, Google Updated two Algorithms till date:-

Unnamed Update — On Feb 4, 2015 Multiple SERP-trackers and many webmasters reported major flux in Google SERPs. Speculation ranged from an e-commerce focused update to a mobile usability update. Google did not officially confirm an update.

Mobilegeddon – Google recently updated this algorithm for mobile friendly websites. This updation was made by Google on 21st of April 2015 and its still rolling on.

Let’s have some more knowledge and details about Mobilegeddon-

Mobilegeddon is the phrase that has been coined to describe the day that your website’s level of “mobile-friendliness” begins to matter to Google. If on this date (21st April) your site is not found to be “mobile-friendly” in accordance with Google’s mobile specifications, the rankings and search engine visibility that your website currently has could substantially drop, hence, the apocalyptic nature of the phrase.

Understanding about the mobile traffic & Mobilegeddon can help many people to better fashion the websites to get accommodating for the mobile devices.

Mobilegeddon” is just part of Google’s strategy to tether more mobile websites to Chrome and Android. This means that users can let participating websites deliver notifications and promotions straight to the Android notification shade or PC desktop, even if Chrome isn’t running.

How it works?

It gives preference to mobile friendly websites over the others in search results.

Effects Of Mobilegeddon :-

It simply affects search rankings on mobile devices.
It affects search results in all languages worldwide.
It is only applicable to individual pages, not to entire website.

As we consider the “Mobilegeddon” from the SEO point of view, It Won’t affect SEO Results. Because links are still the backbone of the Google Search Algorithm & Matt Cutts himself has said that “backlinks have many years left in them”. Secondly content is the king of SEO. The websites which have the unique content will always be in the top search results.

Has it really been such a significant update?

Google did confirm that the roll out began on Tuesday, April 21, 2015. Some truly began noticing in the mobile results in the early hours of Wednesday, April 22, 2015. But those shifts were not considerable. There are some SEO metric companies tracking the update and for the most part, they are not seeing enormous shifts in the Google mobile ranking algorithm, until now. We know it can take over a week, perhaps even two weeks, to wholly roll out. So maybe we just need to wait longer?

The webmaster community, as a whole, has been too unimpressed with the level of significance in the mobile results. Again, that might alter but based on our tracking of the SEO and webmaster community, on the whole feedback is low around mobile ranking changes.

But it does not mean that you shouldn’t Make Your Site Mobile- Friendly, A responsive website give a better user experience to its readers if they happen to click the link.

At the end I would like to conclude that, mobile development companies or web development companies are definitely going to boom up now, because now everybody demand that their website should be mobile friendly.
